Cannabis use is on the rise in the United States. A 2018 study notes that, while cannabis use among teens has decreased, American adults are increasingly using cannabis on the daily. According to Forbes, the worldwide cannabis market is estimated to be worth $7.7 billion. It’s projected to hit $31.4 billion by 2021.

The market is booming to some extent because cannabis can be a versatile type of medication. Several research studies have found that cannabis has the possibility to help with many different medical conditions, including anxiety, chronic pain, and epilepsy.

But, as any recreational or medical marijuana user will tell you, not every cannabis is made equal. Different strains of cannabis produce different effects, and so can be used different reasons.

If marijuana is legal where you live and you’re seeking to give it a try, however, not sure which strains best suit your needs, we’ve got you covered. Have a look at our self-help guide to marijuana strains below.

What is a marijuana strain? If you’ve read a little about marijuana, or maybe you enter most dispensaries, you may view the words indica, sativa, and hybrid. Generally, most people divide marijuana in to these three categories.

Indica, which originates from the Hindu Kush mountains of India, is known to possess a relaxing impact on an individual. Sativa has a more energizing effect, while hybrid is a mixture of the 2.

Many skilled professionals, however, are reconsidering the indica, sativa and hybrid categories. According to Amos Elberg, head of data science at Confident Cannabis, these terms are pretty much meaningless.

“We see samples of all cannabis products tested through our partner labs, and once we examine each of the data, particularly in the chemical makeup of flower, we have seen no identifiable characteristics which can be consistent with indica, sativa, or hybrid,” he explains.

“Essentially individuals are by using these terms as catchalls for effect, but they’re not all consistent with those effects. Some indica makes many people wired, not couch-locked, for instance.”

Put simply, people shouldn’t be alarmed when a reportedly energizing sativa strain has much more of a mellowing effect, or if perhaps an indica strain ensures they are feel more bubbly and excitable.

Beyond indica, sativa, and hybrid, dispensaries might divide the types of cannabis they have got into strains. Strains are essentially different breeds of cannabis, and they’re bred to have specific effects on the user.

However if the terms indica, sativa, and hybrid are essentially useless categorizations, are strain names also meaningless?

Not exactly, says Elberg. “Not all seeds which can be sold under the same name are genetically identical, or even necessarily related. Some producers may choose to develop a strain name essentially as being a branding exercise, or even to identify their product having an existing name because they believe the product matches characteristics the marketplace expects from product sold under that name,” Elberg explains. You will find, however, still consistencies among product sold under specific strain names, Elberg adds.

“In general, for the less common names, product sold by different vendors tends to be pretty consistent,” he notes. “For the most common strain names, however, a wider selection of different goods are sold.”

If you purchase product from the quality source, the strains should be more or less consistent. Remember, however, that each person reacts differently to cannabis.

How to locate a strain – The strain you decide on is dependent upon what effect zhzvmn desire. As said before, cannabis has a range of medical uses, however, many strains are better for several conditions than others.

It’s also worth researching the possible side effects of the strain. Many of the more widespread strains, which you can find below, list dry mouth, dry eyes, and dizziness as you can side effects. Marijuana also offers the potential to have interaction with medications you may be taking. Do not operate machinery when you use marijuana.
